Problem statement

Hosts cannot currently offer optional free amenities (like pool fence setup for families with children) through the upsell system because there's no way to create a $0.00 upsell. This means guests have no streamlined way to request these complimentary services.

Current workaround

Hosts must manually ask guests via messaging if they want optional free amenities, then coordinate individually with their team to fulfill the request.

Impact

  • Creates a lot of unnecessary back-and-forth messaging with guests
  • Requires manual notes and individual coordination with team members for each request
  • Increases operational workload and risk of missed requests
  • No automated task triggering for team members

Proposed solution

Enable hosts to create upsells with a $0.00 price point, allowing guests to opt into complimentary amenities during the booking flow or via upsell requests.

Unlock

Hosts would be able to offer optional free amenities (pool fencing, pack-n-plays, etc.) through a self-service flow that automatically triggers tasks for their team, eliminating manual messaging and coordination.

    Support for $0 (Free) Upsells

    Currently, the upsell feature requires a price to be set for every item. The user would like the ability to create upsells with a $0 cost. This would allow hosts to offer complimentary add-ons, free services, or links to partner services directly through the upsell flow without requiring a payment.

    Add Free ($0) Upsell Option

    • Currently, Hospitable does not support free ($0) upsells
    • Hosts cannot offer items like cribs as free add-ons through the upsell system
    • This limits the ability to manage complimentary items for guests

    Current Workaround:

    • Hosts must manage free items outside of the upsell system (e.g., via internal tasks or notes)
    • No centralized way to track placement of free items like cribs for cleaning teams

    Impact:

    • Operational inefficiency in managing complimentary guest amenities
    • Cleaning teams lack visibility into which properties need free items like cribs
    • Inconsistent guest experience when free items aren't properly tracked
