SMS Notifications for Cleaning Task Completion

Problem Statement:

  • Currently, when cleaners mark cleaning tasks as complete in the Tasks App, hosts only receive an email notification (the "Cleaning task completed — review to release payment" email)
  • There is no option to receive SMS notifications for this specific event
  • Hosts who prefer SMS alerts for task completions have no way to set this up

Current Workaround:

  • Hosts must manually check the task status in Hospitable to see if it's been marked complete
  • Hosts rely solely on email notifications for task completion alerts

Impact:

  • Hosts may miss timely updates if they don't check email regularly
  • Manual checking of task status is time-consuming and inefficient
  • Reduced control over notification preferences for critical task completion events

Proposed Solution:

  • Add SMS as a delivery option for task completion notifications
  • Allow hosts to choose between email, SMS, or both when setting up notification rules for cleaning tasks

Unlock:

  • Hosts will receive instant SMS alerts when cleaners complete tasks
  • Improved visibility and faster response times for task completion events
  • Greater flexibility in notification preferences

    I upvoted three different requests that all seem to be asking for the same thing. Hopefully, you are merging/consolidating them when counting upvotes. I’d like to have an easier way of notifying guests that our place is ready for them prior to the normal check-in time. Yes, I get emails, but I get hundreds of emails a day, and it's noise. I'm hesitant to make the early check-in message automatic, but an SMS notification to myself with prewritten language for me to forward to the guest would be super helpful! A webhook for it would be really great as well, but I know that's new plumbing, whereas the plumbing already exists for ops messaging notifications on tasks (created/updated/canceled).

    Good feedback, Mary. By the way, if you're stressed about approving cleans to release the payment, we automatically pay out 24 hours after a completed clean unless the host disputes the payment — meaning you don't have to approve cleans for them to get paid.
