Reservation Alteration Calculation Tool for AI/MCP

Problem: Hosts struggle to calculate the exact amount to request when altering reservations for additional nights because of the discrepancy between Hospitable's base rate and various channel markups. This leads to miscalculated money requests and guest confusion.

Proposed Solution: A tool that takes the offer sent to the guest and the guest's acceptance as input to calculate the precise amount to request. Additionally, this should be accessible via Hospitable MCP so that an AI can request the correct marked-up amounts based on base rate discounts before sending an offer to a guest.

Unlock: This would eliminate manual calculation errors and ensure guests receive and see accurate totals, improving the guest experience and operational efficiency for hosts using AI automation.

    I don’t think the tool would need to consider taxes or fees, only accommodation amounts. For example, the input the AI would give to the tool would be like “For reservation VRBO-123456, what are the marked up amounts if we offer Nov 22 at a base rate of $89 and Nov 23 at a base rate of $79?” The answer would come back with the amounts the AI can use in the offer message after markup, so that we’re not accidentally offering $89 & $79 after channel markup — that would be bad. The marked up amounts the tool would return would reflect the host’s VRBO markup for that property in Hospitable, so amounts greater than $89 & $79 for each night, exactly as VRBO would end up marking them up. Later, if the guest accepts one or both nights, the tool would add everything up so that we know the dollar amount to request in order for the new total to be correct based on what we offered.
