Pre-emptive / Automatic Delay Review Trigger

Overview:

Hospitable’s ability to delay guest reviews until the final moment of Airbnb’s review window is an excellent and differentiated feature. It provides hosts with valuable time to reflect and submit thoughtful, accurate reviews, especially for edge-case or problematic stays.

Current Limitation

At present, the “Delay Review” switch only becomes available after the review itself becomes available, which is typically a few hours after guest checkout.

In real-world hosting scenarios, this creates a gap:

  • If a guest has been problematic during the stay, a host often already knows they will want to delay the review

  • However, because the delay switch is not yet visible, it is easy to miss the opportunity to enable it

  • If the host forgets to return during that short post-checkout window, the automated review may publish before they have had time to properly reflect or document the stay

While the notepad feature is helpful for recording notes, it does not provide:

  • A reminder to revisit the guest review

  • A way to automatically act on those notes once the review window opens

Proposed Enhancement

Add an optional trigger or setting that allows a host to pre-emptively flag a reservation for delayed review before checkout.

Conceptually:

  • A host could mark a guest or reservation as “Delay Review When Available”

  • Once the Airbnb review becomes available in Hospitable, the platform would automatically enable the delay switch on the host’s behalf

  • This could be a simple toggle, tag, or automation rule tied to the reservation

Optional Enhancements (Nice-to-Have)

  • A reminder or notification during the review window for reservations flagged for delayed review

  • Integration with the notepad feature, for example “Notes exist, prompt host to review before auto-posting”

Why This Matters

This enhancement would:

  • Reduce accidental auto-posting of reviews for difficult or nuanced stays

  • Give hosts appropriate time to reflect, document, and write fair reviews

  • Strengthen trust in Hospitable’s automation by making it safer for real-world edge cases

  • Further differentiate Hospitable as a PMS that truly understands host workflows

This would be a small UX addition with outsized value for experienced hosts managing higher-risk reservations.
