Customize Mobile App Default Landing Screen

Problem Statement:

  • When logging into the Hospitable mobile app, it always opens to the Dashboard by default
  • There's no way to change which screen appears first after login
  • Users who frequently check messages need to navigate to Inbox manually each time

Current Workaround:

  • Manually tap the Inbox tab every time after logging into the app

Impact:

  • Extra taps required each session
  • Slower access to messages, which can delay response times to guests

Proposed Solution:

  • Add a setting in the mobile app that lets users choose their preferred default screen (e.g., Dashboard, Inbox, Calendar, etc.)

Unlock:

  • Users can customize the app to open to their most-used screen, saving time and improving workflow efficiency

Allow Users to Choose Their Default App Landing Screen

Feature request: Let users choose which screen opens by default when launching the Hospitable app, such as Inbox, Calendar, Dashboard, or the last screen used.

For many hosts, the overwhelming majority of app opens are action-driven. We are opening Hospitable because we need to respond to a guest, check a reservation, review the calendar, or make an immediate change.

Forcing every app launch through the Dashboard adds an unnecessary step and, depending on load time, creates friction before we can get to the part of the app we actually need.

Ideally, Hospitable could offer a simple setting:

    • Dashboard

    • Inbox

    • Calendar

    • Last screen used

This would let each host tailor the app to their actual workflow without taking anything away from users who prefer the Dashboard.

Separately, if the Dashboard is going to remain the primary landing page, it would be much more operationally useful if it surfaced important outstanding items such as:

    • Missing rental agreements

    • Uncollected security deposits

    • Other reservation-related actions requiring host attention

The Dashboard should either be optional as the default screen, or become a true operational action center that highlights the things requiring attention.

For me, choosing my own default landing screen would be the preferred solution.
