Problem: Currently, the %smartlock_code% variable and automated code generation are only available to users with a supported smart lock connected. Hosts with unsupported locks have no way to have Hospitable automatically generate a unique random code for each reservation.
Current Workaround: The host must manually think of a random 4-digit code for every reservation and manually enter it into both the lock and the guest message.
Impact: This adds significant manual overhead and increases the risk of human error (e.g., typos or duplicate codes) for every check-in.
Proposed Solution: Allow Hospitable to generate a code for all reservations regardless of whether a supported smart lock is connected. The system should first attempt to use the last 4 digits of the booker's phone number if available, and fall back to a random 4-digit code if not. This could be achieved by making the %smartlock_code% variable available to all users.
Unlock: Hosts with unsupported locks can automate their check-in messaging and ensure every guest has a unique, system-generated code without manual effort.
