Add fetchpriority="high" to homepage hero image preload on Direct sites

Problem Statement:

  • Google PageSpeed Insights consistently shows a very slow Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) on Hospitable Direct sites (currently ~8.2 seconds)
  • PageSpeed specifically flags that the hero image preload request should include fetchpriority="high"
  • The hero image is served through Filestack as a background image, and this optimization is controlled by the Direct site template, not the site editor

Current Workaround:

  • Resizing and compressing the homepage hero image (already done), but this doesn't address the fetchpriority issue

Impact:

  • Poor LCP scores affect SEO rankings
  • Slow page load times may reduce user engagement and conversions

Proposed Solution:

  • Allow Hospitable to preload the homepage hero image with fetchpriority="high" applied to the image preload request

Unlock:

  • Improved LCP scores on Google PageSpeed Insights
  • Better page load performance for Direct site visitors
